Department Recommendation: Staff recommends that Council approve the purchase of two (2) solid waste commercial delivery trucks from Ray Gaskin Service in the amount no tto exceed $226,770.14 and appropriate an additional $118,270.14 from the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.

Summary:
The City of Visalia Solid Waste Commercial Division provides weekly solid waste service on commercial routes within the City limits. This includes servicing approximately 7,500 bins, with some bins being serviced multiple times per week. The City's Solid Waste Commercial Division's front-load fleet takes care of the service of these bins on a day-to-day basis, but the Solid Waste Maintenance Division is responsible for daily deliveries, removals and repairs necessary to maintain the equipment in the field and in the Corporation Yard. This activity requires a delivery and maintenance truck outfitted for this type of activity. The purchase being requested is to replace the two 2008 commercial delivery and maintenance trucks that are eligible for replacement in accordance with the City's replacement schedule.

Background Discussion:
The Solid Waste Maintenance Division performs deliveries, removals, and all maintenance of residential cans and commercial bins throughout the City.
