Department Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1. Authorize the City Manager to award a contract with Truxell & Valentino Landscape Development, Inc. for RFB 22-23-26 Construction for the Houston Roundabout Landscaping Project (2520-72000/CP0307-999) in the amount of $298,450; and
2. Approve an appropriation of $145,000 from the Transportation Impact Fund (241) to this project, CP0307.

Background Discussion:
The project was established as a beautification and safety project for the Houston Roundabout which currently has limited landscaping within the center. The scope of work for the Houston Roundabout Landscaping project includes grading and earthwork of the site, irrigation improvement, planting improvements, and installation of concrete curb and rip-rap city staff maintenance path. The purpose behind the development of this project is to enhance the aesthetics of the area by creating a beautified focal point and enhance safety by breaking headlight glare through the roundabout of oncoming vehicles. The landscaping would also enhance safety through indirectly lowering vehicle speeds by reducing excess sight distance and discouraging pedestrian traffic through the roundabout island.
