Department Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with the Urban Tree Foundation, Inc. for a two-year term with the option to renew for three additional one-year terms, in an amount not to exceed $150,000 per year.
Background Discussion:
The Urban Tree Foundation, Inc. (UTF) has been under contract with the City for over twenty years and has been providing design and project management services related to urban forestry matters to the City. Their agreement recently expired in July 2023. Staff recommends a new agreement be established for their continued work with the City to provide grant writing services, grant management, construction management, and consulting services related to the City's Urban Forestry Program.
The Urban Tree Foundation, Inc. (UTF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the urban forest through education, planting and tree care. Staff members at UTF are industry-acknowledged experts in the field of landscaping. Their services include preparing grant applications, landscape design, and project management, review of landscape plans and general consulting as it relates to urban forestry. They are also locally based so they have a unique understanding of the Visalia area landscape.
