Department Recommendation: Staff recommends Council approve a one-time discretionary payment for employees in accordance with previous Council action

Background Discussion:

In an effort to recognize City hourly employees for their continuing efforts and hard work during challenging times, in a closed session meeting on May 15, 2023, City Council gave direction to provide a one-time lump sum discretionary payment for approximately 200 active hourly employees as follows:

$500 for employees who have worked 500 or more hours this fiscal year*

$200 for employees who have worked 201 - 500 hours this fiscal year*

$100 for employees who have worked 1 - 200 hours this fiscal year*

*July 1, 2022 through June 2, 2023

The lump sum will be included on the June 23, 2023 paycheck.  Only those employees on payroll and receiving a paycheck on that date are eligible. CalPERS retired annuitants are not eligible to receive the bonus payment.

Fiscal Impact:

Approximately $51,400
