Department Recommendation:
Staff recommends City Council authorize the following:
1) City Manager to enter into a contract with Kimley- Horn & Associates for the design of the Signal Interconnect Project along various corridors in the amount of $488,430; and

2) Accept $5,956,000 of Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds awarded for Traffic Signal Interconnect Projects at various locations; and

3) Appropriation of an additional $2,716,000 from Fund 281 (State Transportation) to the projects identified in this project.

Summary:
The Signal Interconnect Project consists of seven (7) segments of roadways within the City of Visalia that will extend the existing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) network connecting existing signalized intersections and allowing for future expansion of the ITS network. The various segments have been combined into three main projects based on the funding sources.

The project locations are described below and are shown in an exhibit attached to this staff report.
